Wow..this long

Seems like I just posted one few weeks ago....*shrugs* .  Life at the tables has been brutal, particularly on Merge.  I've been running like crap on there since BF and i'm not happy about that.  Revolution has been blah as well, but that's been about break even since my 3rd in their major.  Great news came out earlier this week about Pokerstars buying FTP.  Even though I only had couple hundred tied up on there still be a nice little unexpected bonus, but i'm not counting that money til it's in my account.  The government isn't known for being fair when it comes to money.  Seems like as long as their pockets are being lined then everything is good.  But still this is exciting news for many of my friends who have thousands tied up on that site.

Still trying to figure out wth is going on with ADZ and this Samer fella.  Not sure what's true and not but here's the 2+2 thread...  http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/29/news-views-gossip/matt-marafioti-samer-rahman-allegedly-conspire-hack-other-poker-players-1231581/ .  ADZ seems to enjoy being in the middle of all sorts of things.

so close yet so far

As Sunday's have gone...they haven't been good to me basically since i started playing poker.  All of my major scores have been mid week......til this past Sunday.  3rd in the Revolution 100k for $10k.  Definitely not my biggest score....but my biggest by far since BF.  Was a good feeling.  Even though 3 handed my KK got caught by 23o I still was very proud with how I played.  Rail was fun (i usually clown a bit at FT's, I think it a) throws off some of the players from their game and b)usually relaxes me a bit. 

It's hard to believe that after Merge's "downgrade", yes i refuse to call it an upgrade, just how bad it is.  Could they have picked a worse time to roll out such an atrocity.  I used to think the cake software was bad...oops...grats merge.

As I forgot to mention in my last post...a BIG grats goes to Manderbutt, for her second place at the WSOP.  A fellow pxfer it's always great to see good things happen to fellow members.  Though I never had a chance to say hi to her at the wsop circuit in west palm as she seemed to be focussing on her table or someone else was chatting with her.  I always feel awkward just walking up to strangers to talk.  I always feel like i'm intruding on them.

So far so good

Well my first night playing on the new "revolution" site on the cake skin and got a win...woo hoo...it was a $30 5k for 1.1k.  Praying the lock RNG didn't make the move over as well to all the skins...whew...dodged that bullet ;).  If you're just starting to play poker it's good to have a friend or 2 to bounce things off of or just talk bout hands.  It's good to have a little bit of every level in my opinion so you stay sharp on all aspects of the game.  If you just talk to the high rollers their plays are intended for most thinking players where when u mud it up in the lower buyins those 5th lvl thinkers are few and far between.  But those are the ideas you want to be able to utilize as you progress through your poker learnings. Gonna put a small grind session tonight on cake then off to real work for a few nights (yuck!!).

The Lock move

Well it's my first night since lock moved to a cake skin.  I wish they would have changed structures and starting stacks prior to the move.  It's really disappointing to start with 2k with the cake structure that is a little faster than an already fast merge structure.  I've been running pretty bad for quite some time so this move does bring a breath of fresh aire my way.  Though the first night seems to be the same merge RNG...lol.  Usually moves like this are met with alot of outrage from the poker community.  But we'll let lock get it's updates out as i've heard they are supposed to make changes to the software/structures/schedule and so forth.  The schedule they have out isn't too bad....It could be really good if the guarantees increase as i'm not sure if they started low to see the response or started high to attract players at first.

so close yet so far

Well yesterday started out as a horrible day but finished as a nice one....close to a VERY nice one...as I got a 3rd in Daily Double B and a 6th in the FTP 50/50. All evening I could not remember a time when I lost so many 70/30's as I did...mostly AK v Ax, but other times too. Very disappointed in myself in the 50/50 as my KO hand could have been avoided pf. Oh well...shit happens.

Thanx for the rail fellas was fun.

Will fire up another day later today and hopefully I can keep the streak going of deep runs (and maybe finish a couple this time)

Good weeks are nice

After gettin into a couple K of makeup the first week or so of November has been good. Took down the 5pm rush $26 mtt on full tilt (obv on fulltilt) than about a week later took down the $11 25k on stars. Good week for the br/backers and for my confidence. Sometimes you start doubting urself when u get on just a little bit of a downswing. This was by far not my worst, but a downswing nonetheless.

I go to Vegas first to second week of December. First trip for the wife to Vegas so should be fun. She has a respiratory national conference there so perfect excuse for me. Good chance to meet couple of Skype buddies i've never met and get reaquainted with Vegas. Weeeee

Well i'm still making some deep runs it seems almost every night, but haven't been able to take a top 2 yet so that's the good and bad news. Last couple days have been bad for me as i've hurt my back somehow and can barely move. Had to call out of work for a couple days and hopin I feel better so i can go in to work tomorrow night.

Parents got a new Airedale so he will be fun to play with.

Mom started playin poker now on Pokerstars and it's fun watching a new donk ask the strangest questions. It'll be fun coaching her in the future. See how she does. That's it for now.

Making changes

As every poker player knows, you must constantly improve your game. The game of poker is fluid and if you sit still with how you play the game will pass you by. So i've made some adjustments to my game (i'll keep the changes private for now), and have seen immed improvement. I've made some deep runs this past week, but with only one FT..the Daily double B...which I took 2nd in (win a race ONE F"N Time). Granted in this time i've put some beats on folks, but than again i've taken some brutal ones at just the wrong times in some mtt's, so I think the poker gods are breaking me even. We'll see what this next week holds for me. I think i'll only be playin couple of days so i'm gonna squeeze in all I can during that time.

June was a good month

It was nice to get the runbad monkey off my back and take down the stars 70k at 2130 and then a day or 2 later the chop the 10k HU on FTP. Started July off right with a win in the Feltstars 5k for a 1.5k score. So we'll see if i can keep up the momentum in July now. Been working extra shift last few weeks at work so haven't been able to put in the volume that I normally do for a week, but who can complain with those prior scores. Next week i'll be back to 3 nights/week at my "real" job so i'll be grinding normal volume than.

Hope everyone had a great July 4. I got to spend it with the wife and my folks on the fifth since i worked the 4th :( .

Great to see Ryan Welch take home a bracelet. Even though he's a newer pro on pxf, he seems to be a member of the pxf family for awhile. Hope that's the case.

The good and the Bad

Year as been rather crappy on pokerstars whereas FullTilt has been very good. Not sure of anything i'm doing differently on one site as opposed to the other, but I guess that's just variance turning around on both since prior to that it was reverse fortunes on those sites. I have also been playing on Feltstars which has been profitable, but I just haven't put enough volume maybe there.

Gettin married in just over a week so i'm excited in that. Makin the 3 hour drive to Savannah, GA and than bout a week later we go on a cruise for a week for honeymoon. Got my first balcony suite so i'm excited to see how that affects the cruise (i've always loved cruises, cept the last one we took, which was her first ;( )

Playin tonight probably for one of the last times for nearly a month i think. May get another night or 2 snuck in before the cruise. We'll see.

Well the past few weeks haven't been as eventful as i had hoped. Made some deep runs but usually shoot myself in the foot. Sometimes by the poker gods....but sometimes just by my stubborness. We'll see how it starts tonight (Monday) first real night of playing after my work week. Hopefully can take something down tonight.

So that makes 7 FT's in past 3 days 2 4/180 2 12/180 and 3 with fields over 900

Problem is as u can see.....NO FUCKING WINS. Makes me sick. so it's obv to me now....one of my biggest leaks is HU.....so i'll figure out something there.

finally

Well finally got off the skid yesterday with a 3-way equal chop for 2750 in the FullTilt 14k KO. The day/night was bitter sweet in a sense where I had numerous other tournies that I really needed to do better in, but just couldn't turn my big stacks into riches. It's good to be playing well and than to have the cards hold up (mostly). Though did have a streak of variance last night that didn't help my rungood.

On a different note, as some ppl know i'm a Med/Surg nurse for an actual job. I work on the Medical floor part of that, but have decided to move to the Surgical floor. We'll see if my manager let's me switch. She's notorious for putting the kaibash (sp.) on such xfer requests. Today has started poorly, but still in one on tilt..and have the whole night schedule to play.

Been awhile

It's been awhile since my last blog, so i'll try to get this updated more often. Year has been very much up and down for me in regards to poker. Seems like variance is making me it's bitch for most of the year. Though I need to play a bit better in some spots. I"ve been trying to play somewhat in mtt's. It seems to get me more cashes but less deep runs...so gonna try to make some adjustments to the tighter play before i revert back to a laggier style.

Outside of poker i got engaged...so i'm very excited bout that. wedding next year so still some time to "feel free" HAHA.

Good start to 2009

After what I consider a miserable 2008, 2009 started off well with a second in the 30k on Sunday. 6k in runners which I was told is the max for that event which makes it a nice run in my eyes. 10th in a Big DD same night made it a great start to the new year. I'm trying to not get into verbal confrontations to the numerous donks that don't like my rebuy strategy (uber lagtard probably best describes it), but also during other tournies where I either make a bad play or they do. Not fairing well with this "resolution" so far, but still have a long time to work on that. Overall I think my play has been good, with a few exceptions.

YoYo plz

Last week was all and all a good week. 12th in 50k. Along with some other deep runs. Problem was I couldn't get a dominating hand to hold when i got deep. (With exception of 50k...though TT does look good vs AA when T flop). So I was playing solid poker all week. Then I hit work for few nights...take off an extra day and try again today. Wow, can I change gears in the wrong way. From playing good all week to playing like an intellipoker player the next time i play. Though I have been playing tired....so that's what i'll blame it on.

Back on the Felt

Took some time off to go to Orlando (SeaWorld) with the gf and only played a day or 2 the past couple weeks. Had couple of nights off from work this weekend and hit the felt again. Cashing in the $30 on stars (bummed should have done better), double cash with one FT in the 9pm DD's on FT. Been playing better than I had been the previous ~ month for whatever the reasons before. Skype was fun. Special thanx to Captn and Coke for that one.

On a down note, gf's father may have had a TIA, which is basically a "mini-stroke". Hopefully he'll be ok.

Just another subpar night

The afternoon started with a cash in the 3r, which really doesn't mean much unless u FT the event. Then evening consisted of mostly bad beats which i won't go into here, needless to say i hate FullTilt. Hate running so bad there and average on Stars, but that's the way it goes. Hopefully i can right the ship tomorrow. Start work again on Wed. for 3 straight nights ;( , so be nice to go into that with a decent score.

Hopefully this goes well and I will continue to blog. Last night pretty uneventful as i was tired. Had good stacks in the 3 tournies I played at night only to fizzle in second hour. Serves me right for playing day after i work my shifts at the hospital.
